H2 - Teaching tension: How exploring the tension between objectivity and social construction can enhance information literacy

The tension between objectivity and constructiveness in relation to truth and knowledge is hotly debated in information literacy. This tension is, in fact, a positive force in information literacy instruction. Rather than be resolved, this tension ought to be leveraged to generate critical and iterative thinking in our students.

ENSEIGNER LA TENSION: COMMENT L’EXPLORATION DE LA TENSION ENTRE OBJECTIVITÉ ET CONSTRUCTION SOCIALE PEUT AMÉLIORER LA MAÎTRISE DE L’INFORMATION

La tension entre objectivité et constructivité par rapport à la vérité et au savoir est vivement débattue dans la maîtrise de l’information. Cette tension est en fait une force positive dans l’enseignement de la maîtrise de l’information. Plutôt que d’être résolues, ces tensions devraient être exploitées pour générer une pensée critique et itérative chez nos élèves.
